Do you feel that, despite your best efforts, your child is going through a difficult time and you don't know how to help them?

You might notice changes in their behavior, intense emotions, anxiety, sadness, or difficulty managing frustration. You try to support them, but the same situations seem to repeat and you don't know where to start.

At Feelings and Beyond, a mental health center in Miami specializing in child and family therapy, we understand that behind every behavior is an emotion that needs to be understood. Through an approach based on neuroscience and attachment theory, we help parents understand what's happening in their children's inner world and how to guide them toward better emotional self-regulation.

Our team, led by renowned therapist Erika Angulo, offers therapy for children, adolescents, and parent guidance, integrating play therapy, mindful parenting, and relational therapy.

We support you in strengthening family bonds, promoting emotional calm, and building safe and healthy relationships at home.

Perhaps you identify with one or more of these experiences:

  • You feel that your child is more irritable, anxious, or disconnected, and you don't know how to help them manage their emotions.
  • You notice that the family dynamic has become tense, full of arguments or silences, and you would like to regain the emotional connection.
  • You've tried different parenting strategies, but the same behaviors or conflicts keep repeating.
  • You worry about seeing your child get easily frustrated, isolate themselves, or show changes in their mood or school performance.
  • You feel emotionally drained, with guilt or doubts about whether you're doing "enough" as a parent.
  • You long for a closer, calmer, and more meaningful relationship with your child, based on understanding, empathy, and a secure bond.

At Feelings and Beyond, we help you understand what your child is feeling, strengthen your family connection, and promote lasting emotional well-being, using approaches based on neuroscience, attachment theory, and conscious parenting.

How does the therapeutic process work?

First appointment / Evaluation

Under 18 years old

The first appointment is usually held with the parents or caregivers. In this session, we carefully listen to the needs and challenges you may be experiencing with your children, and together, we establish personalized treatment goals.

Adults (over 18 years old)

The first session is conducted directly with the patient. Through conversation and listening to their experiences and challenges, we define clear and achievable goals for the therapeutic process.

Duration: This first appointment usually lasts approximately 60 to 75 minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Many parents seek therapeutic support when they notice their children exhibit intense fears (such as fear of sleeping alone, going to school, or separation), social anxiety, difficulty managing frustration, frequent tantrums, high emotional sensitivity, or trouble adapting to changes.

In teenagers and adults, therapy can be very helpful when there is constant stress, a feeling of disconnection, difficulty setting boundaries, low self-esteem, or repetitive patterns in relationships.

At any stage of life, the therapeutic process promotes significant emotional and mental growth, strengthening emotional intelligence, self-compassion, and the ability to self-regulate.

For patients under 18, the first appointment is usually held with the parents or caregivers.

During this session, we listen to the main concerns, explore the family history, and together define the therapeutic goals. If the patient is an adult, the first session is conducted directly with them, focusing on understanding their challenges and objectives.

This session lasts between 60 and 75 minutes and marks the beginning of a personalized treatment plan.

Although each person and family progresses at their own pace, most therapeutic processes last approximately 3 to 5 months.

During this time, progress is usually noticeable in how children or adults relate to others, regulate their emotions, and face daily challenges.

In many cases, when families observe positive progress, they decide to continue with support to further strengthen their well-being or their children's emotional development.

Generally, sessions are held once a week, lasting 50 minutes, though frequency can be adjusted based on needs.

Play therapy is a specialized form of psychotherapy used especially with children. Through play—their natural language—children can express emotions, process difficult experiences, and develop self-regulation skills.

At Feelings and Beyond, we use Synergetic Play Therapy™, an approach based on neuroscience and attachment theory, where the therapist accompanies the child through connection and emotional co-regulation, helping them understand and transform their inner world in a safe and compassionate way.

Neuroscience studies how the brain works and how our emotions, thoughts, and behaviors are connected. In our approach, understanding the brain is key to understanding why children, adolescents, and adults react the way they do to stress, fear, or frustration.

Basing our work on neuroscience allows us to identify what each person needs to regulate themselves, feel safe, and regain emotional balance, especially in cases of anxiety, intense fears, or emotional overwhelm.

We work with strategies that help the brain create new connections, promoting lasting emotional well-being.

Yes. At Feelings and Beyond, we firmly believe that parents are an essential part of the team working toward their child's well-being.

That's why, in addition to individual work with the child, we hold regular sessions with parents where we share observations, progress, and practical strategies to support the process from home.

Our goal is to provide tools that last a lifetime, strengthening the bonds between parents and children and creating safer, more empathetic, and conscious relationships.

Yes. At Feelings and Beyond, we offer in-person sessions at our office, as well as virtual sessions for those who prefer or need the online format.

We also conduct workshops and conferences for parents, schools, and communities interested in topics related to mental health, emotional regulation, and family relationships.

The therapeutic connection is fundamental to the healing process. If you feel there isn't a good connection, we invite you to talk about it openly. Our team is committed to ensuring that every person—child, adolescent, or adult—feels safe and understood.

If necessary, we can help you find another therapist within our group who better fits your needs. The most important thing is that the therapeutic space feels genuine, empathetic, and trustworthy.
